Chairman of the Board of PrJSC «NJSC «Nadra Ukrainy» Mr.Viktor Novikov took part in the commemorative ceremony.
On 17 July 2026, a memorial plaque was solemnly unveiled in Poltava in honor of Petro Holub (1944–2025) – Honored Industrial Worker of Ukraine, Academician of the Ukrainian Oil and Gas Academy, distinguished petroleum geologist, and long-serving head of SE «Ukrnaukageocenter». The ceremony brought together representatives of government authorities, the oil and gas industry, the scientific community, local government, as well as Petro Holub’s family, colleagues, and former students.

NJSC «Nadra Ukrainy» was represented at the event by its Chairman of the Board Mr.Viktor Novikov. During the unveiling ceremony, he emphasized Petro Holub’s outstanding contribution to the development of Ukrainian geology.
“Petro Serhiiovych occupies a special place in the history of NJSC «Nadra Ukrainy». He was one of those individuals whose dedication shaped the professional traditions of our industry, strengthened its reputation, and left behind a remarkable scientific and professional legacy. The memorial plaque we unveil today is more than a commemorative marker—it is a symbol of our gratitude to a devoted professional, an outstanding expert, and a true patriot of Ukraine. It will remind everyone who passes by that people like him built the history of Ukrainian geology,” said Chairman of the Board Mr.Viktor Novikov.
Petro Holub devoted more than 60 years of his life to the development of Ukrainian geology. He began his professional career in 1961 with the Poltava Geophysical Expedition, progressing from a field geophysical technician to the head of one of the country’s leading geological enterprises. Since 1986, he had served as Director of the Ukrainian Geological Research and Production Center «Ukrnaukageocenter». Under his leadership, the enterprise became one of the key geological support centers for Ukraine’s oil and gas industry.
The Ukrnaukageocenter team contributed directly to the discovery of 46 oil and gas fields with total initial natural gas reserves exceeding 140 billion cubic meters were discovered, while approximately 750 geological, analytical, geological and analytical studies, as well as scientific and engineering projects were completed. Petro Holub also made a significant contribution to advancing research into unconventional hydrocarbon resources, modernizing geological science, and mentoring young professionals.
The unveiling of the memorial plaque paid tribute to a man whose contribution to the development of Ukraine’s geological and oil and gas industries was truly remarkable. His professional achievements and lifelong dedication continue to serve as an inspiring example for today’s and future generations of geologists.
SE «Ukrnaukageocenter» continues to conduct systematic scientific research aimed at developing Ukraine’s domestic mineral resource base.
